Hidden Danger

I had to finish a lesson plan, and Tim had some excuse, so our groceries were sitting on the table for a little bit when suddenly CRASH! Something made a big noise from the kitchen. Tim checked on it a couple minutes later to discover this tube OUT of the grocery bag, one biscuit randomly on the table, and three biscuits chilling in the bag.

How did this happen? We have no idea. It must have been under a lot of pressure!

On another note, dinner menus are amazing. My mom has been telling me to make one and I finally have. I can only get myself to plan two weeks at a time but it has made a ton of difference. We've gone from top ramen to gourmet...kind of. Let's just say our plate now contains more than one type of food.

Large and in Charge

Here I am at 6 1/2 months:

Thanks Mom for the comfortable pants! The scary thing is my Dr. said he could see my doubling my weight since I am pregnant during 3 major holidays. Wohoo!

Tim and I relaxing after church. Tim has had to put up with me being sick this entire week. He takes the LSAT this Saturday. I'm sure he'll do great!

What a Cutie!

Andy and Hillery had their baby yesterday, 6 lbs. 6 ozs. 19 inches. Sadie Ray. I love her already but don't know when I'll get to meet her!

On a side note, I have a new favorite student. His name is Brandon, 7th grade. He said, "Um, Mrs. Ray, you look skinny today." What a good student. A+ for him!

What a Nerd

Favorite conversation from the junior high today:

Me: Class, I called on Grant which means everyone else needs to be quiet and listen. I remember when I was in jr. high I felt like a nerd when the teacher called on me and the rest of the class was talking while I was trying to say something.

Jonny from the back (interrupts): Weren't you a nerd because you wore thick glasses?

Class erupts in laughter.

I think I've told them too much from my life already...

Only in UT

In between every class period I greet the students at the door as they come into class. Please enjoy the following conversation:

Student: Umm, Mrs. Ray, you can't get mad at me or I can't get in trouble for not turning in my assignment yet.
Me: Why?

Student: Well, I've been really busy at church. I'm the deacons quorum president and we've been doing A LOT of stuff.
Me: Church Smurch. Sorry. This is school and your assignment was due.

Student: Ugh! (his face in disbelief as he walks through the door)
How many of your teachers would have known what "Deacon president" or "Beehive president" meant? How many of you would have tried to use it as an excuse? Utah.

Great Day

Two great things happened today:
1. In my teaching class at BYU my teacher announced that if we went to a week of meetings before the public school started then we could count that as a week of teaching. Not all students did this--but I did! This means that I will for sure be done student teaching at Thanksgiving break!! Wohoo! This also means when we go home for the break I get to stay a little longer! :)

2. Tim got a letter in the mail today saying he was on the Dean's List of Honor Students. Way to go T-Ray! Do you think this can go on a law school application? I'm so proud of him.

2,150 Arby's Roast Beef Sandwiches

A couple days ago Tim and I went to Arby's. He ordered his meal and while we were waiting he suddenly walks up to me and says, "Look, I got charged almost $6,000!" HIs total came to about $5.80 and the old man--really old man--working added three extra zeros to the price! We told the man and he started blaming it on some young kid. I said, "No, you just did it two minutes ago!" Poor old man couldn't even remember ringing it up. I figured that cost would cover about 2,150 roast beef sandwiches. Moral of the story: Look at your receipt closely next time you order food. It's still pending in our bank account.
